Ingredients:
2 pears, D’anjou or Bosc -- still firm
1 bottle red wine
½ cup sugar
2 sticks cinnamon
Lemon peels (half a medium lemon)
Instructions:
Heat wine, cinnamon sticks and lemon peels together in a small pot
Peel pears, cut in half and scoop out seeds
Place pears in boiling wine
Simmer until pears are soft (about 15-20 mins)
Remove pears, cinnamon sticks and lemon peels
Continue to simmer wine, reduce to half the amount and use as sauce over pears
Serve with ice cream, yogurt, or on its own!
